The exercise:

Welcome to the most pointless day of the year, April Fools' Day. While I can honestly say that I can't remember ever pranking someone on this day, I'll nevertheless use it as the starter.

So go write about: fools.

Mine:

The king sits atop his throne,
Which protests with a low moan -
For the king has abandoned
His diet ere it's begun!

The jester arrives in style
And somersaults down the aisle;
He sings and smashes his cup,
And the king gobbles him up!

Heehee, all I can think of is the Fool in King Lear. I was rather sad that he disappeared after Act III, but he'd served his purpose and wasn't needed in Acts IV and V; it would've been too late for him to do anything anyway.

Fools and jesters improve any story in which they appear - t'is a proven fact. :D

Fools Or Should I Say Fool
He makes a mockery of me
Thinking that I am meak and weak

Little does he know the gumption that I have
boiling inside of me
He has never seen me this way

Fool
He has made his last mistake today
As I walk away from him

I shall no longer be his fool for the day

I like how empowering that is, how the finality of the decision in the last line comes across.

Nicely done :)
