The exercise:

The topic for this week's Two Haiku Tuesday is: setting the record straight.

Inspiration: Kat and I gave our new landlord several post-dated cheques to cover rent for the next little while, which they deposited. Both our banks took out all the money right away. Kat's bank caught the error and corrected it; I get to call in and yell at them.

Mine:

You may think you know
But you don't have a damn clue -
So just stop talking

* * *

Set the record straight -
Gently now, go slowly and
Don't scratch the vinyl

I particularly liked the second one, using another interpretation of "setting the record straight."

Just to make it clear,
For all intents and objects,
He's wrong, I was right.

He tried to dispute
My constant affirmations.
My reply: "Nu-uh"

Eh. Not quite the way I wanted it to turn out... whatever that way was.

LOVE the reference to vinyl-what an awesome use! When it comes to "setting the record straight" I immediatly thought of the absurdity of the Lewinsky Scandal!

You’ve misunderstood
The allegation so told
Let me clarify

I did not do it
I did not have sex with her
Clinton’s infamy

Oh wow, all these haikus are great! I feel slightly nervous about trying to write some of my own now.

Setting the record straight

He's just a house-cat,
Lonely tiger tastes warm flesh;
Sets the record straight

g2 - haha, love the ending to your second one :)

Salynne - thanks :)

It took me a while to figure out how to work it in, but I finally thought of something!

Ah, good old Bill. He will never live that one down.

Greg - that's one of the joys of doing this blog - I get to go first, without having all the brilliant stuff posted in the comments to compare it to! This way when I see something that's way, way better than mine, I can at least pretend they were inspired by mine :P

Oh, that second one is some kind of vengeful. I like it.
