The exercise:

Okay, that's more than enough dental talk for one week. Your four line poem topic this time around is: the reservoir.

Mine:

You laughed before you jumped
With a fading au revoir!
And I watched as you became
Just one more drop in the reservoir

Oops, can you tell I got a bit carried away yesterday? Perhaps I should make up for it today by only writing three lines for my poem....

Yours made me smile, the catchiness of the jaunty au revoir contrasting neatly with the denouement.

The reservoir

Scattered light on freezing water,
A lake so deep the drowning never ends.
The well-protected public reservoir,
Where we used to swim when we were friends.

The valley that used to be,
home to people, animals and more,
long ago, now gone,
is the county reservoir.

Strapping on my life preserver,
Yelling "Jump into the cold reserver!",
Friend retorted "Never repeat it, evermore,
Don't you know its reservoir?"

...

Sorry, it was short notice :)

(Marc: Thanks for stopping by. Peace, IG)

Greg - "A lake so deep the drowning never ends." Well, that's a hell of a line right there.

Tam - lovely to see you around these parts again :)

And I very much like the sentiment in your poem.

Irish - well on short notice you managed to make me laugh, so no apologies needed :)
