The exercise:

A four line poem about: the wedding day.

Note: I'm getting married today, so I hope you'll understand that this post was written a couple of days ago.

If everything goes as planned, I'll have been officially married about two hours before this post is scheduled to go up, not long after Kat came walking towards me while this song played:

I'm totally cheating with mine - I wrote this poem for the wedding invites we mailed out months ago.

Mine:

Let us gather in the garden,
Let us dance along the rows;
Let us celebrate their union,
Let us help their love to grow.

For some reason I was half expecting today's prompt to be something about a union... like, a wedding's a union of two people, or something along those lines.

So! I think I'll try something like that.

The Union
To our tyranic muses:
We think you break some law.
Stop being so hard to predict
Sincerely, we the s.l.a.w.
(slave-laboring association of writers)

I think my inner writing department's rebelling or something: I or my muse (whomever you choose) wants to write something, and yet nothing's really working. Grrr.

Anyway. Maybe a shot at your actual prompt...

A wedding is a beautiful thing
which makes the people all sing
The people sigh happ'ly, until Father Chaply
asks the best man, "Where is the ring?"

That may be one of my better limericks.
Congratulations to you and Kat! All my best to you two!

Marc – Congratulations! Wishing the two of you forever loving!

Nice poem for the wedding day! That clearly shows your desire of happiness within!

g2 – Haha, I guess it’s the same for my inner thoughts as well; rebelling is the word I guess. :)

Lovely poem! And I wonder if that really happens on the actual wedding day?

Mine:
A pair of lovely lovers, hands in hands with roses,
Slowly towards the entrance of the chapel,
And the crowd is singing in their names,
While there are full of joy and tears!

@g2: I really like your limerick; and I don't dislike your first poem, but I'm definitely in two minds about it at the moment. I'll keep thinking about it :)

@Zhongming: that's very romantic!

@Marc & Kat: Congratulations! I know you'll be very happy together for a long, long time, so there's not much for me to wish you really: perhaps I'll wish you every success with your business venture, and healthy, happy kids.

The wedding day

We're already committed,
Soul intertwined with compatible soul.
We invite you all to witness it,
We love you, you're part of our whole.
