The exercise:

The prompt today: invaders.

I just spent a couple of hours in the garden weeding, pruning, and tying up tomato plants - there must be more dirt under my fingernails than out there in the garden right now.

I bet my mom is reading this and thinking, 'He's weeding an acre of garden these days but I could never get him to weed my ten foot flower garden in front of the house.' Sorry mom, it just took me a while to understand how satisfying weeding can be.

Mine:

"They've got us surrounded sir!"

"Excellent, they're right where we want them."

"But... with all due respect sir, have you lost your mind? They'll be over the walls and through the gates in a matter of minutes!"

"Exactly. That's when we'll blow the dynamite!"

"But... we'll be inside too... won't we?"

"Do you have a problem with that?"

"Uh, no sir. Not at all. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to go... talk to... uh, Gerald. Out back. I'll see you later sir."

Sounds like you're having fun -- and of course weeding is more satisfying when you're an adult! You've got so much to think about that you can enjoy the time doing something repetitive and easy with your hands while you sort the world out in your head :)
I'm glad you didn't hit a deer (as per yesterday's post), though I appreciate that seeing the aftermath can't have been nice. Of course, once you've been farming for a couple of years you'll be posting that you stopped and harvested as much venison as you could....

Very funny story this morning; that senior office sounds worryingly British. In fact, now I think about it some more, there's just a hint of Blackadder goes Forth about it too :)

Curiously we must have been on a similar wavelength yesterday as the story I posted to Protagonize last night fits the Invaders theme rather well. It's a little long to repost here, but I'll link to it here instead and hope that you like it :)

Or, in my case, think up stories that I can't seem to find time to actually write :)

Ah well, that will come.

I'll have to check out your story soon - I'm terribly backlogged on my Protag stuff right now.

That too will come.
