The exercise:

A four line poem about: predictions.

There was no new snow here today. That was good, since Kat had to drive to Penticton for a class, but I was looking forward to a nice blanket of white. It still got very, very cold though. Chopping wood was slightly less fun than usual.

Writing update later. Working on getting past the 40,000 word mark.

Geez, that sounds like a lot.

Update: day twenty. Less than 10,000 words to go until 50,000. A lot more to go until the story ends. The race continues...

Mine:

I thought you'd go right,
But then you went wrong.
So it looks like I
Have to say so long.

Well, it sounds like you'll be getting that blanket of white soon -- I hope it's not too inconvenient once it's all there! And I hope it doesn't halt work on the cabin.
Your novels are clearly going from strength to strength! I can see that NaNoWriMo will be an easy target for you this year now :)
And I love the pithy little poem you've offered us today.

Predictions
In the year fifteen hundred and fifty five
A book shall be published by a seer
Who shall become famous for his predictions:
Nostradamus.

Predictions

Waking up to the rhythm of a vision,
holding and calling, for a degree of recognition.
Yet what it is gives is nothing -
more than an idea, cleverly wrapped in a contrary caption.

Marc: Great work with Nano :) I'm hoping to hit 40,000 words tonight!! I say that with more optimism than can be acted on!

Greg: Had forgotten about him! Nice take on the prompt :)

marc, re jester's, we're getting to the exciting part, aren't we! i think with this story, you'll easily hit more than 60 by next weekend. excellent stuff. nice poem. mine is along that line, too:

you said we'll be forever
you said our love will stay strong
but now i say that we're over
i guess you realize you're dead wrong.

hah! cliche still holds the truth, i say.

greg, your poem reminded me that in mid-90's, i recorded a documentary on the predictions of nostradamus (on video no less) and i yet have to view that in full. i must find that video while the vcr still works, as i can't find it on the internet. it was an interesting docu because it was juxtaposed with scientific predictions.

watermark, i'm cheering for you to reach that 40,000 mark, just as i'm cheering for marc and everyone else i know who's doing the nnwm. rah! rah! rah!

I promise I am not editing your work, but missing words or repeated words stick out to me. Anyway, here's another free word:

Chapter 15, 12th paragraph from the end, second or third sentence (depends on if you combine them), you are missing the word 'on'.

Also, and I know you kind of asked people not to do this, but you have one sentence (the only one thus far) that is very difficult to read and comprehend. If you chose to look at it, Chapter 14, 10th paragraph from the end, 1st sentence.

From chaos and from devastation,
one will save us from damnation:
a day will come with our salvation
from 'twixt the stacks and shelves.
- - - - - - - - - -
It feels like there should be more there, but that's all I got for now.

Oh! Suggestion for December 8th! That day's Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day, and I think a time traveling prompt would be appropriate and interesting, no? ^^

Finally, Marc! You got Jerry out of the city and on the way north. Congratulations!

Greg - not halting, just shifting priorities. Thus the fireplace getting done today :)

I like how you managed to make a prediction of a prediction in your poem.

Watermark - go go go, 40k! You can do it :)

Love the rhythm of your poem.

Summerfield - I think 60k by next weekend is pushing it, but we'll see.

Cliches are there for a reason, aren't they?

Heather - thanks for the free word! And I knew exactly which sentence you were talking about without even looking it up. I saw it as I was writing it and decided to pass it off as the way he speaks for now :P

g2 - I like your poem and I like your prompt suggestion. I might need reminding though.

Morganna - finally indeed. Thanks for the encouragement :)
