The exercise:

Two haiku about: fear.

Feeling another bit better today. Fingers crossed that the end is in sight.

Mine:

It's irrational,
I know without any doubt...
but still I fear it.

Underneath my bed
a foul monster is lurking:
my dirty gym socks.

I quite like the idea of snow when you wake up, which then turns into a clear, sunny day with warmth when you're in the sunshine. I knew I should have taken one those mountains back home with me when I came to Vancouver.
@Aaron, feel free to steal names of my characters. I usually just stick a name on a character and only change it if they complain (and then not always; Milton Stilton is still unhappy about his).

Your second haiku made me smile, Marc, but I think I like the thoughts that the first one inspires slightly better.

Fear
Monsters hide 'neath beds,
Cold winds make doors creak at night,
Fear crawls round the house.

----

A clock strikes thirteen,
The door states: Room one-oh-one.
Winston Smith was here.

Snowflakes falling so
Softly from the sky -- I fear
Winter will not end.

She turns the doorknob,
Late again. What will he do?
She trembles at his shout.

a stray snake slithers
bunks inside my living room
this is my great fear.

I swear I am not stalking you; I am just ridiculously curious. I've sent you a message and friend request via facebook so you can contact me off of this site.

Tell me, how is the Canadian media portraying what is happening here? That is, if you don't mind. (Hint: I'd watch the news. Things are escalating quickly.)

Greg - it's been too long, I had to look up Winston Smith. But now that I have, well done! :)

Morganna - two very different but very good haiku. Can't pick a favorite.

Summer - I share your feelings in the second haiku. Ugh. *shudder*

Heather - I didn't get the message, but the request has been happily accepted.

I'm not the best person to ask, as we don't have a TV and I've not been paying attention to the news the past few weeks.

But! Your question sent me looking around and I found a few online examples:

The situation sounds totally ridiculous. Good luck tomorrow, and stay safe.
