The exercise:

Two haiku about: rivals.

Because tomorrow night the Vancouver Canucks will begin this year's Stanley Cup playoffs against the Chicago Blackhawks - the team that has knocked them out of the playoffs for the last two years.

I'm hoping the fact that the Canucks finished this regular season with the best record in the league will help them to find the confidence to come out with a different result this time around.

Mine:

Everything you can
do, I can do better - so
don't even try, Mom.

*     *     *

Defeat's getting old.
This time has to be different.
Lord Stanley awaits.

It's that time of the year when you get to root for your team for the three weeks they're in the competition for? Yay!
I hope they do better this year too though :)
I like the punchline to your first haiku; I like the team-loyalty in your second.

The rivals
(Isn't that the name of a play by Sheridan, btw?)

Like chalk and acid,
They get on explosively.
Best rivals since school.

-----

The wind shakes the tree,
And dislodges my rival.
I can't laugh harder!

They argue and fight,
Tussle, squirm. Often at odds,
Rivals and brothers.

Greg - really liked your first one this week.

Morganna - I like that a lot. Bonus points for using both 'tussle' and 'squirm' in a haiku :)
