The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: the delivery.

Really good morning at the market, as we sold out of cherries, apricots, broccoli, shelling peas, and raspberries. The only things we brought back home were a few cabbages and some herb plants.

Wish every week could be like that.

Mine:

The waiting room has been repurposed,
Now it's only for pacing.
There is no sitting down permitted,
Just nervous thought chasing.

Sounds like a good day at the market then. I notice that you sell out of all the sweet things, with the less-sweet ones being a little harder to sell; that's probably a good reflection on what people like to eat in summer :)
Heh, I wonder what could have inspired your poem from that title today then ;-) You're definitely planning ahead if you're already thinking about pacing up and down nervously.

The delivery
Strange loops twist time,
And the midwife delivered the child twice,
Like stuttering in a news broadcast.
His destiny got twice as complicated....

@Marc, I want cherries! Our cherry tree is now barren (on account of us eating every last fruit), and our apple tree has been cut down due to moth infestation. Shame that Penticton is such a hike from Kelowna.

@Greg, clearly he is his own twin.

Mine
"Got a Meat Lover's here for Mr Smith."
"Kid, he died in '88."
He looks at his watch and then proclaims,
"Then I guess this pie is free!"

The Delivery

his speech was eloquently delievered
despite the cold in which he shivered
his promise to voters was made
in time they'll know it was staged

I'm eating cherries while composing; perfect brain food!

The Delivery

Our company contract must be renewed,
I plead, wheedle, cajole and coax,
My words have never been so shrewd,
Wrapping up with “Th, that’s all folks!”

If you "tell" a mythical tale
The audience may find your delivery a bit stale.

So you must "show" all the aspects of the story
To earn admiration and glory.

Greg - yeah, people like their treats. Thankfully, we have a lot of those :)

Nah, we know a couple who are one week past their due date (actually I just saw on Facebook that she's at the hospital tonight and expecting to deliver tomorrow), so that's where my mind was wandering.

Agree with JorJack, definitely his own twin. Intriguing possibilities in that scenario!

JorJack - alas, our cherry trees are now fully harvested as well. Not that there was much to get off them with all the rain we've had.

Apples, however, are on their way!

That would have to be one of the slower deliveries I've heard of!

Aholiab - agreed :D

Haha, you definitely caught me off guard with that last line - nicely done!

Morrigan - sounds about right to me :)
