The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: the kiss.

Very successful market this morning, selling out of most everything aside from the peaches. We sold a more than respectable amount of them, we just brought a few too many crates.

This evening our house guests prepared dinner for us and it was fantastic. Great food, great company, and a great location out on our deck.

Not bad at all, really.

Mine:

Cutting corners
To steal a little kiss;
I'm just grateful
That our front bumpers missed

I'm pretty impressed with the sales you manage at your farmer's market; it sounds like you must be one of the most successful stalls there!
That's a sweet little poem. I don't know if I can manage much today; after submitting my poem for the Poetry Tournament (about 50 lines in iambic tetrameter) I'm kind of poetted out :(

The kiss
Preparation
For osculation
Is trepidation
...then elation.

[osculate means to kiss, from the Latin osculere. Mathematics has osculating circles which is surprisingly poetic for the subject!]

Gosh I can't remember the last time I posted something here... At least a week ago I suppose. *sigh* Ah well the crisis is slowly ending, though I wish it followed a plot structure, so the ending didn't drag on. Ah well, that's life for you.

the kiss

Sleeping figure, finally home,
Mother watches her breath.
Brushing hair, child's face revealed,
Mother gives her a kiss.

The Kiss

Her eyes laughed at my joke
Her nose wrinkled at my gaze
Her hand trembled at my touch
But her lips melted at my kiss

the kiss

wet and sloppy
moist on my cheek
baby's first kiss
was my best treat

Greg - I think we do pretty well, though it's always hard to judge how other vendors are doing. The combination of fruit and veggies works well for us.

Ah, I always suspected there was some poetry lurking within mathematics :)

Cathryn - regardless of how long it has been, it's good to have you back :)

Lovely little scene, I had no trouble picturing it.

Aholiab - absolutely love the progression of your poem. Great stuff!

Writebite - mmm, now you've got me longing for mine. Nice work.
