The exercise:

Write two haiku about: the strongman.

Finally got back to the gym this morning, mostly to get in a run on the treadmill - carrying Max around the house is enough weightlifting for me.

Anyway, there was a guy there today who was easily the largest man I've ever shared gym space with. The kind of guy you avoid being anywhere close to when exercising because the easier it is for others to make a direct comparison, the worse it is for you.

So yeah, he's the inspiration for today's prompt.

Oh, and if any of you thought that I was the source of our topic... you're hilarious.

Mine:

Bench pressing a horse
that's just finished a large meal?
More muscles than brains.

*     *     *

Lifts weights nine to five,
spends his evenings fighting back
tears while reading Poe.

You're not the strongman? Oh man, am I disappointed now! ;-)
I've got a couple of guys like that in the gym I go to as well, but there seem to be more who aren't really muscular but insist on trying to throw around weights they clearly can't handle. Thankfully they keep disappearing (I presume they injure themselves) but there's also a never ending resupply....
Carrying Max is good exercise though :)
I think I like your second haiku better today, though the imagery in the first one made me laugh.

The strongman
They hired a strongman
(They can't afford a shredder)
It's dull but easy.

He tears documents
(Many hundred pages long)
Into tiny bits.

[Oh, and I did expand on the Hook last night; it on strangefunctions as usual

The Strongman

he used to be slight
but doing protein and weights
made him a strongman
* * *
from that to this, it
is such a transformation
adverse things change you

Greg - the gym is a fascinating place for people watching.

And I suppose a strongman has to take whatever work he can find...

Writebite - ah, the power of proper motivation. 'Proper' being defined as 'whatever gets your ass out of the chair and doing whatever it is that needs to be done'.
