The exercise:

Write about something that is: spinning.

Feeling a little better today, so hopefully I'm on the mend from this stupid cold.

Mine:

"I can't believe you did that!"

"Well, I did. And I liked it, too."

"You know that Dad is spinning in his grave over what you've done!"

"No, he's just going around and around because you insisted on burying him rotisserie-style."

That's the only way to be buried; all the cool kids are doing it. I actually quite like that idea for myself now you bring it up. That'd puzzle future archaeologists!

Spinning
"Darling, I bought a dragon." The Prince looked over at his wife with a slightly sheepish expression on his face. His wife sighed.
"Another one?"
"It's a racing one. She has stripes!"
His wife rolled her eyes. "How much?"
"Fourteen thousand...."
Now she shook her head and pursed her lips just a tiny little bit. "And that holiday I wanted...?"
"Anywhere!"
"Fine." She stood up and left the throne room. Down some long, dusty corridors that were barred by doors that only she held the key to was a flight of stairs that descended into a small dungeon. She stopped at its door and rapped on the bars. Swearing came from inside.
"Rumplestiltskin!" she shouted, and as it always had, his name commanded the grotesque little mannikin. "Rumplestiltskin, more straw will arrive in the hour. You must spin it into gold."
"You're only weakening your own economy," whispered the dwarf, his voice glutinous and echoey.

Everything is spinning out of control. My husband is deployed. My brother is touch and go in a hospital after his “to be determined fatal or non-fatal motorcycle accident.” Here I am in another hospital about to give birth for the first time all by myself. I didn’t find out what I am having, but I fear it is a boy. I’m afraid he is a replacement, and I don’t know if I am going to name him wrong. What if my husband doesn’t come back? What if my brother doesn’t make it? I will wish I named him after one of them if either happens, but my husband and I have already named him. I sign all our emails Love, Mo and Baby Bucky.
Everything is rolling along nicely. I had a baby girl.

Greg - hah, I could see you doing that :P

Haha, excellent. Really liked this one :)

Mo - 'I'm afraid he is a replacement...' - that is a brilliant line. So powerful.

A bump on the noggin is all it takes. To have your whole world spinning around you. And the worst part is the clock is spinning the slowest. I haven't finished my test and all the rest have. I can't do this. I can't finish. I have to start spinning with it not against it. I have to go with the flow. I need to finish.

Oh BTW Marc congratulations on your bubba!!

Max looks very cute! :)

Papple - ah, I remember that taking-a-test feeling all too well...

And thank you :)
