The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: the middle of the night.

Sorry this is so late getting updated. Guests arrived shortly before midnight and then yadda yadda yadda.

Mine:

Things go bump,
Hearts may pause,
Though it's all
With... out... cause...?

Guests arriving shortly before midnight sounds a little awkward! I guess they were expected earlier and intending to stay? Still, I hope a good time was had by all!
Nice poem, especially the last line :)

The middle of the night
At the end of every ending,
and in the middle of the night,
there sits the ancient letter 'g'
Doing what is right!

The Middle of the Night

Gentle snores fill the house
Doors are locked, the dog’s asleep
Peace everywhere but my mind
Today’s conversations must be analyzed

Hearts screaming..."HELP! HELP!"
But the deadly water is rising above
Only a few made it to the shore
Rest were lost in the middle of the night

Greg - they were stuck leaving Vancouver late in the day due to work, so their arrival was expected. Things just got a little crazy when they got here, is all :)

Hah, you and your literal take on prompts. I like it!

Aholiab - ugh, I know that feeling all too well. Especially Saturday nights after a busy farmers market.

Abhi - that's a very grim scene, one I'm glad not to be a part of!
