The exercise:

Write four lines of prose which take place in: the cafeteria.

Hurray, caught up on the comments once more. We'll see how long that lasts, and how far behind I get once it starts to slip again.

Mine:

"It has to be you."

"Why me?"

"No one else has the required courage and leadership abilities!"

"... no, I'm pretty sure that you mean no one else is stupid enough to start a food fight while Bobby's dad is supervising lunch hour."

Heh, I'm still sniggering to myself over your piece today. You fooled me completely; until the last line I had no idea that it was children talking!
Well done on comment-catch-up, I am impressed. And I'm not really that bothered about the haiku day; sooner or later I won't have time or it'll prove too hard to acrosticise them, but it's fun trying. I blame Morganna for the idea though :)

The cafeteria
"These plans for the school cafeteria...," said the Headmaster, biting his lips.
"Yes?" asked Miss Snippet, her face the picture of innocence.
"They look more like... well... the plans for... um, a giant rotisserie."
"Yes," said Miss Snippet, deciding to go for brazening it out.

Greg - glad you liked it!

I do not envy the Headmaster his job. I'm sure this discussion was one of the least worrisome he's had with dear Miss Snippet.
