The exercise:

Write two haiku about: exhaustion.

I... yeah. Three more box days to go. That's pretty much all I have to say.

Oh, and we have a proper front door again. So that's good.

Sleep now.

Mine:

Eyelids like anchors,
blinks lengthen until turning
into unplanned sleep

*     *     *

A head filled with glue,
thoughts keep getting stuck and then...
still get lost, somehow

Yay for a proper front door! Though it does mean you're back to conforming to bourgeoisie expectations ;-)
Heh, I like your second haiku better this week. I don't know if you've experienced this, but I've found that if I'm writing and I'm that tired I can come back to it the next morning and find sentences, and even whole paragraphs, that make no contextual sense. The English is fine, but I've no clue what they're doing there or why I was typing them :)

Exhaustion
All used up... again!
If you have used the last sheet,
Replace the loo roll!

----------------
The spaceships emits
A single charged particle...
An exhaust ion.

[Couldn't resist!]

BEEP, the alarm sounds
Pulling me out of my dream
And into real life.

With eyes heavy, itchy,
And head foggy, one thought rings
Clear: why school today?

Eyes begin burning

Water streaming down my face

Sleep is much needed

Feeling like nothing
To tired to be here now
Asleep now in class

Eyes are filled with crud
To hard to open my eyes
Falling back asleep

Carry on, carry
On -- ears ringing, head spinning,
Life doesn't stop.

Too, too tired
When can I sleep? When children
Are safe at home.

Greg - ah yes, always conforming... :P

Maybe not to that extent, but I've definitely experienced something similar. It's a fun little next day puzzle to solve :)

No, I imagine you couldn't possibly have resisted that one...

Ivybennet - hah, your second haiku could have been written by me just about every day I was in school :)

Taylor - welcome to the blog! Thanks for joining in on the fun and I hope to see more of your writing here :)

Great imagery in your haiku, it really captures that way-past-your-bedtime experience.

John - and a warm welcome to you as well! I hope you find the blog useful :)

I'm pretty sure I've lived both of your haiku at various points. I particularly sympathize with your second one, as I'm not much of a morning person.

Morganna - hmm, I think your second one will become true for me not long from now. I already worry about Max too much :P
