The exercise:

Write two haiku about: the treat.

Everyone has now arrived safely. Becky and Natalie showed up at Kat's parents house around lunch, and my parents got to their hotel here in town mid-afternoon. Hurray for no additional complications on the road for anyone.

We all got together for dinner at Kat's parents house this evening. The kids, unsurprisingly, were the stars of the show. The food was also good.

Very much looking forward to the next few days of family togetherness.

Mine:

Dipped in chocolate,
drizzled with maple syrup,
and filled - Give me ten.

"We'll only have one,
and just this once!" Nobody
believes this junk, right?

Well done on everyone getting together in time for Christmas, despite the hiccoughs along the way! I hope it's a comfortable and merry one for you :) Is this your first Christmas staying put and receiving guests? I have a feeling that around this time of year you've usually got prepared posts going up on schedule, but it was a year ago since my last memories of it!
I think I like your first haiku better this week, since I can quite agree with the last line.

The treat
Puppy sits quiet-
ly by the shelf where treats are
kept... he knows they're there!

----------
A bungee jump now?
Before Christmas lunch? How is
this a treat for me??

Greg - we usually alternate between Christmas with Kat's family and mine. I don't think we've gone elsewhere when it has been Kat's family's turn, but I'd have to double check that.

We spent Christmas in Calgary with my sister and her husband last year though.

At the moment I can't remember what we did three years ago.

Ah yes, puppies, like small children, always know where the treats are.
