The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: things that go bump in the night.

We took a good chunk out of the work that needs to be done in the new strawberry patch this morning. Not quite as much as we'd hoped for, due to a variety of reasons (including Max sleeping in and Max wanting Kat to be with him for most of the morning and Rebecca's new puppy needing attention), but we're getting there.

This afternoon we went for lunch at the winery that Rebecca's working at, along with Kat's brother and his family. With the staff discount provided by Rebecca being at our table it was a pretty great deal for some yummy food with a lovely view.

Tomorrow is a little up in the air at the moment. If there's no post here on the blog then we've gone camping and we'll be back on Monday. If we get rained out... expect a post as usual.

Mine:

It's calm and quiet now,
Time to get some sleep.
Then I hear something thump
And can't help but shriek!

That sounds like a very nice way to spend the weekend, and something of a reward from all the weeding that you've been doing!
Heh, I think your poem might be inspired by real-world events... but I'm choosing to think that the thump was simply you falling asleep on the couch and then falling off it!

Bump in the night
I close my eyes and see Dodgems,
I'm driving in pleasurable fright;
You see it's just another great dream,
Of things that go bump in the night.

Greg - me falling asleep and then off the couch seems like a pretty safe bet, now that you mention it. I've managed not to do that though... so far.

Is Dodgems what you call Bumper Cars then? Thank you for the link, as I would have had no idea what they were otherwise. Probably would have assumed it was a word you'd made up, actually.

But now that I do know... that's a great take on the prompt. I'm impressed you were able to take such a different angle on things - and a rather more lighthearted one than I would have expected!
