The exercise:

Write two haiku around the theme of: unstoppable.

Because, for whatever reason, Max was wired from the moment he woke up (early) this morning until he fell asleep (surprisingly on time) this evening. There was just no stopping him today.

At this point I can only assume that he is siphoning my energy while I sleep and then burning it all off during the day so that he can do it again the next night.

Mine:

This kid could give the
Energizer Bunny a
run for his money

*     *     *

He was a hot knife;
I should have known better than
to be his butter

So... Max is a vampire? Is he one of the sparkly ones that like sunlight, brooding and believe in polygamous marriage?
I think I like your second haiku better this week because the image is... faintly appalling to be honest :)

Unstoppable
"Dive, dive, dive!" I yell,
I want to run submarines,
Not teach kids to swim.

Nothing will stop me:
"Everyone dodge! Depth charges!"
"...retrieve the bodies."

[I'm not sure where that one came from actually, but if you take the two together they work with the theme :) The acrostic was... unexpected.]

Not sleepy, Mommy!
Don't turn out the lights yet, please
Just a few more ... yawn

It comes back from roots,
The tiniest piece, but I'm
Killing it this time!

(I have an ongoing battle with noxious weeds on my property.)

Greg - maybe? If so, he's an entirely new breed of... you know what? I don't want to think about this too much.

Your acrostic is... yes, let's just go with unexpected :P I think I prefer your second haiku this week.

Morganna - hah. Replace that 'yawn' in your first one with 'zzzz' and you'd be describing more than a few nights around here with Max :)
