The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: the cheerleader.

Took a family trip up to Penticton today to run a couple errands. After lunch, while Kat was finishing off the shopping, Max and I hung out at Jumping Beans. It's been a long time since we've been there and he had a blast.

No parade videos on the computer required today, but he's bound to remember that promise eventually.

Mine:

He's just there to meet girls,
What else can he say?
He's not about to tell
Everyone he's gay...

If Max takes long enough to remember the parade you could try telling him that Santa's busy with the presents now and doesn't have time for any more parades. I doubt it'll work, but it might be worth a try :)
I've never understood cheerleading, and your poem today doesn't make it any clearer to me. I suppose it's to give people something to look at while the sport's not taking place? We just don't get that much with European sports – they're all about the game and not so much about waiting twenty minutes for the next two minutes of activity... (ok so I'm mostly thinking of American Football here).

The cheerleader
"Happiness is mandatory!"
The cheerleaders have their motto.
And everyone will obey it,
Or there'll be trouble in Santa's grotto.

[Now I have this vision of cheer-leader elves whose job it is to make sure everyone is cheery, or at least is making a good effort of pretense. Which can only mean that whips, chains and politicians must be hiding somewhere in this grotto too...]

Greg - hah, no, that definitely would not have worked.

Yeah, cheerleading is a strange world for me as well. I'm not sure how it's justified in current times, with all our gender equality and all that.

Hmm, yes. I think there's more story to tell here. I can't remember if you got into this more in the coming days, but you certainly should have! It might even have reminded me to do some sort of countdown to Christmas...

Eh, probably not.

Okay, five days down. Going to try to do that again tomorrow night. If I can keep that up I might be all caught up on comments before the new year begins!
