The exercise:

Write about: showing off.

Natalie came over this afternoon to play with Max, mostly so that she could see his new room. They did manage to spend some time outside as well, and generally had their usual good time together.

We're back to pretty much everybody having a cold again, so that's fun.

Maybe if I got more sleep I'd start feeling better...

Eh, probably not.

Mine:

"Oh no, not again."

"What's going on?"

"It's Pierre."

"Oh lord, what's he up to this time?"

"He must have found where I hid his keys... he just pulled our car out of the driveway and took off toward town."

"Oh? That doesn't sound so bad."

"He blindfolded himself first."

"Oh... I see."

"Well, that makes two of us."

Sounds like a fun day then, and I bet Max enjoyed showing off his new room! The best thing to do with colds is ignore them, they can sense weakness, you know ;-)
I'm writing this on an iPad in Malta, so please forgive any typos; it's much harder to spot and correct them. I'm out here for interviews; this is the first time I've been important enough to be flown out for an interview :)
I like the sound of this Pierre, but did he ever work for Henri? If not, perhaps he could and kill two birds with one stone :)

showing off
Margaret shuddered as the feral chihuahuas dragged the limp, unresponsive body of the undergardener past the French windows. Lady Agatha, who was pouring orange tea into China cups saw it and sighed.
"Don't look at them," she said. "They're only showing off, and you're encouraging them."
"Me?" Margaret's tone conveyed the injustice she felt the statement held. "You make the staff rub themselves with bacon in the mornings!"
"It keeps them on their toes, dear, and I think it's encouraging cannibalism. Predictions show that people willing to kill and eat other people will fair best in a zombie apocalypse."
"If there's a zombie apocalypse I'm eating your dogs."
"Oh, I don't think so dear. The gamekeeper has a list of people to kill immediately and store in the icehouse so that we have food prepared."
"I'm on that list? Really, mother?"
"I knew you'd want to be helpful," said Lady Agatha. "And It was that or use you as zombie-bait."

Greg - so has a final decision been made on Malta? I feel like I'm terribly behind on all that.

I'm not sure how I feel about Lady Agatha being so well prepared for a zombie apocalypse. I'd like to think the gamekeeper would abandon her but then again with those dogs at her command... maybe not.
