The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: bedtime stories.

Transplanted our tomatoes out in the garden this morning, along with starting squash, cucumbers, and zucchini in the greenhouse.

Now I'm having trouble keeping my eyes open, so good night!

Mine:

Read the words again -
We both know how it goes.
But we play the game
Til those little eyes close...

It sounds like the vegetables are coming along well! I'm sure you'll be out there in the garden soon harvesting them all in and wondering where the summer went!
It sounds like you're writing from experience today... I'm guessing it's Max's bedtimes stories though, as Miles seems a little young for knowing all the words :)

Bedtime stories
She lays her head on the pillow and we tell each other lies:
How I'm working late and how she's waiting patiently; our eyes
Connect for just a moment and in that instant all words die.
These are bedtime stories; we turn away, try not to cry.

Greg - yeah, definitely inspired by Max :)

Powerful bit of poetry here. So much story squeezed into four lines! Very impressive.
