The exercise:

Write two haiku about: the introvert.

Had a fairly quick pick for local orders this morning (only two customers put in orders this week... getting pretty close to the point of shutting Tuesdays down now), snuck in a quick rest this afternoon, and then had a pretty smooth evening shift at the community center.

Now to get some sleep before I'm up and heading for the bakery tomorrow morning.

Mine:

All of these people
make me want to hide away...
but I'm surrounded.

*     *     *

Quiet, please. Quiet.
Can't you see that I need it
like you need clean air?

I can't talk right now
I can't. Please stop asking now
I need quiet now

@Morganna: I like the repetition of now at the end of each line; it really gets the necessity of the quiet across. I think I understand your introvert.

@Marc:
That sounds like a nice steady day really :) I got a haircut yesterday, which doesn't sound like a lot but it was for me. It was the first day in two weeks I did fewer than 12 hours in the office. But -- the reason for this is the product launch on Satuday, so it's just temporary and we're almost there :) (The long days, not the haircut. That's obviously just temporary until the next one.)
I think I like your first haiku better today, because I completely understand that feeling as well. Even skype, my phone and email can make me feel like that at times.

The introvert
Winter brings freezes
The introvert jubilates
He can stay indoors

------------
I'm always smiling
Since even at your parties
I'm always alone.

Morganna - that feeling of an overwhelmed introvert, perfectly captured. Nicely done.

Greg - I'm quite sure I've said this before, but you work too much. I hope that it's enjoyable work, at least, and that the reward is worth all the effort you put in!

Hah, I know the feeling conveyed in your first. I've been there.

Ugh, a sunny day... I suppose I should go out and enjoy it...

Versus:

Woo hoo, too cold to go anywhere!

Too many people.
Their presence overwhelms me.
Wish I was back home.

They're all so happy.
Full of life and excitement.
I just want to leave.
