The exercise:

Write two haiku about: closing time.

Had our final strawberry U-pick of the year this afternoon. Had enough people show up to make it worth doing. And now we can shift our focus to other things, as a good portion of our week has just been freed up.

We'll still be doing local orders for fruit and berries but it'll be just one day each week and there will be no U-picking involved. Our customer email list has definitely grown a lot as a result of doing this, so I guess we'll see how many of those people stick around for things like apricots and peaches and apples.

Going to try to catch up on some comments in the next few days so that we can get to the yearlong prompt before this month slips out the back door.

Mine:

It's closing time, gents!
One last call for alcohol...
you sorry bastards.

*     *     *

Lock the doors, shut the
blinds. Work is done for today...
Don't look so happy.

Not sure how I missed this one! I think I must have been in one of my sporadic busy patches, probably helping my ex-intern with his exam revision. What was the decision behind stopping the U-pick? Just that other fruit is harder to let random strangers into, or that the strawberries were the biggest crop and so the hardest to harvest without help?
I like your first haiku better today for its world-worn cynicism, but the second one makes me laugh; I know people like that!

Closing time
Guys, our new mottoes:
Overtime is for winners!
Hard work won't kill you!

Only sometimes it
Might... don't talk about Alex.
Eeeehh. Let's get a drink.

Greg - the strawberries are the most unmanageable crop for us. Plus Kat's parents don't want people gallivanting through their orchard. Plus they're able to pick all the fruit themselves.

Hah, these are fantastic. The new mottoes are perfect, and the final line of your second just cracks me right up. Nicely done :)
