The exercise:

Write two haiku about: the circus.

  1. I guess you could actually have a prompt with nothing there at all, and hope that we're clever enough to work out that the prompt is "Nothing". After that you need to invent negative words, and I think that might cause problems in English departments across Canada.
I'm glad you "liked" the tale yesterday, I wasn't sure if I was really getting the emotion across well but it looks, from your reaction, like I made a good attempt :)

    The circus
    Close the Big Top! The
Lions are on strike, they want
    Overtime and meat.

    Woman with moustache,
    No-shave November makes her
    Seem a circus freak.

  2. Totally missed that it was 2 haiku day, so this is not a haiku.
    ===========
    Round and round we go
    Under the big top
    Elephants, acrobats, horses, clowns
    All glittery under the lights
    It's opening night!

  3. Greg - I'm trying to figure out whether or not you're suggesting that I'm getting lazier and lazier with each prompt... :P

I think I would be more concerned with the lions' demand for meat than overtime. In fact, I think I would offer them triple overtime pay and hope that they forget about the meat altogether...

    Morganna - no worries :)

I like the rhyming of 'round' and 'clowns', as well as the closing two lines rhyming together. Makes the whole thing flow nicely together!

    Mine:

    "The high-wire snapped
    and the lions have escaped!"
    Just send in the clowns.

    Under the big top
magic is real and all of
    your dreams can come true
