Well, I would definitely recommend reading Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator then, and see if you think it's 'slightly weird' or not by the time you're even 50 pages in :) Perhaps my view on the weirdness of it is relative to the original though, I hadn't thought about that :)
I am saddened to know that there will no Sir Phillip's strutting around your back garden in the near future though.
Also, though I'm glad you're enjoying Fabian's little tale, I am now wondering if I could do a couple of vignettes set in the chocolate factory....

Hah, the first haiku's take on the prompt took me completely off guard, as I wasn't thinking along those lines at all. So that one wins the day this time, I think.
