The exercise:

Write two haiku about: the tinker's workshop.

  1. Gold, silver, bronze and now a tinker's workshop... are you playing Dungeons and Dragons with the boys? Or just Terraria when you get a quiet moment? :-D

    The Tinker's workshop
    She likes to tinker
With things that are new to her:
    Everything's broken.

    Ask her nicely to
    Reassemble stuff... she's lost
    Screws, springs; all the bits.

  2. The constant motion
    no longer fazes him, though
    he seeks an anchor.

    Neat by circumstance,
    never Home long enough for
    clutter to settle.

Coming at this a little late so the pattern’s been revealed, but to Greg’s speculation—I’m relatively brand-new to d&d, but I’ve been told that one hasn’t truly played it until you’ve played with a five-year-old. I haven’t yet been able to confirm, but I trust the source.

  3. Greg - hah, the boys are into dragons enough already on their own, they don't need my help :P

I really like the picture your two haiku paint. I would fully be into hearing more from this tinker's world.

g2 - I very much like the idea of 'never Home long enough for clutter to settle', I think that tells a big part of the story all by itself.

And... hmm. I guess I'll have to see what it's like with a six year old. Or give it a couple years and test out the five year old theory with Miles instead.
