The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: scratching the surface.

Almost managed to get the boys' room organized this afternoon. Ran out of steam, but should be close enough that I can finish tomorrow.

  1. Sounds like you're nearly there with the move! The electrician sounds like a minor inconvenience at best and a chance to make changes you might otherwise have lived with for longer. And I like the sound of your morning commute, and the bobbing and weaving in and out of traffic and travelling at the speeds the roads allow rather than those mandated by distant officials ;-)
I have noted that you like Genius -- I think he'll be around for the whole tale about the Ramshackle as he strikes me as the survivor-type :)

    Scratching the surface
My dreams are pointed and poignant,
Scratching only the surface of the turmoil
Of my thoughts and I wake, sweat-soaked and anxious
    To find the water-level rising.

  2. Greg - we've got a few things up on the walls now, at least. Still working on various bits to make it feel fully our home.

Continuing to enjoy your not-a-yearlong poem. I'm curious to learn more about your narrator!
