The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: motivations.

  1. Heh, the narrator is motivated mostly by necessity....

    Motivations
As the viziers and the janissaries hurry through the gates
To see who — or what — has invaded Al-Amrit
He lifts his shirt and shows me white lines of ancient scars
And I understand his motivations and do not fear them.

  2. Greg - fair enough. Also - if you need any particular prompts to make things easier on you between now and the end of the year, just let me know.

Not entirely sure what your narrator is seeing, but I'm glad it's... reassuring? Not sure that's the right word...
