The exercise:
I'm in the mood for some silliness at the moment. So let it all go and write a silly poem.
Mine:
Come on wave your hands in the air,
Act like you're a big hairy bear
That is swaying to his own beat
In the sweltering summer heat.
Go ahead and stomp your big feet
While you dream of sweet honey treats.
But don't get carried away dear,
Winnie the Pooh doesn't live here.
The fun's not over, don't you fear!
Here's something that might bring you cheer:
Close your sleepy eyes if you dare
And dance around like you don't care!
Silliness is good, especially in summer! Your poem made me smile, and then smile again when I noticed the rhyme scheme you'd chosen; I like the fact that the last lines of each verse inform the first lines of the next one.
ReplyDeleteMy little silly poem is more about the way the words sound than the content.
Nilpotence
The topology of my morphology
Is categorically incomplete.
I used to have a functor,
Now I can't make my ends meet.
I'm strictly automorphic
To a subset of myself,
I'm infinite in extent
And it's causing my ill-health.
My orbits are all trivial
And I grow like order-n,
Yet my cosets are two-sided
And my torsion's over ten!
I can hear the heavy tread
Of nilpotence on the stair
There's not much time for me now
So I bid you, please take care,
For when the eigenvectors call
And the lemmata all are mating
Remember me and how I died
Because nilpotence's always waiting.
I have absolutely no idea what's going on up there, but I friggin' love it.
ReplyDelete"I used to have a functor" made me laugh out loud. At work. And I'm not entirely sure why.
I'm tempted to look up at least a few of those words, but I'm perfectly happy in my ignorance :)
