The exercise:
I seem to get way more writing done at work than I do at home. What can I say? I work best under pressure.

Your Two Haiku Tuesday topic this week: baby toys.
Inspired by something Kat told me yesterday, after she got back from babysitting for a friend. The first one, at least.
Mine:
Cars and bears and drums
Hold no interest - he'd rather
Play with fresh laundry
* * *
No more baby talk.
Next time I get your keys I'm
Driving to Vegas.
I find there's fewer things I want to be doing at work that aren't writing than at home ;-) Heh, and as for your first haiku, all I can say is "aren't kids grand?" The second one really appeals to me though.
ReplyDeleteBaby toys
Babysitter sighs,
You've thrown your toys out the pram,
"No more toys for you!"
------
Baby breaks the back,
Of the antelope he caught:
Baby plays with things
Small soft squashy things,
ReplyDeleteTiny little plastic bits,
Waiting for my feet.
Trains, gears, dolls, blocks, books,
Talking toys, nothing beats a
Simple cardboard box.
Greg - yeah, pretty much. Plus I'm stuck on the computer all day, so I find myself more willing to write in little 2 to 5 minute bursts.
ReplyDeleteRe: your second haiku - that must be one big baby!
Morganna - haha, your first one is very cute and the second is so completely true.
I've already told Kat that if we have kids we're not buying any toys until they stop being fascinated by empty boxes.
