The exercise:

A four line poem about: parking spots.

My final line popped into my head today and I had to include it, so now you get to suffer with this prompt because of it. You're welcome!

Market went better than expected this morning, since we didn't think there would be too many fruit-buying tourists. Apparently there's a jazz festival of some sort going on in Penticton this weekend, so that seemed to help.

It's hard to believe it's been nine years already. The memories of that day, and those that followed, are still very fresh in my memory.

Mine:

You can say what you will,
Go on, I don't care!
It's plain for all to see:
That car was born there.

  1. Congratulations on your market success! Sounds like you should perhaps subscribe to Penticton's social events calendar so you've got a slightly better idea of what to expect each Saturday.

I'd not have been able to resist that last line either, so I can understand why you've given such a difficult task today! You've done a nice job of making a four-line poem out of it too.

    Parking spots

    Everytime I think of parking,
I break out with bad acne.
So here I am, driving forever,
    Miserable, spotty, me.

  2. Marc - It's great to see that you are doing well in the market and that's a well written poem :)

Greg - I like your poem and i love your last line best, i think :)

    Mine:

    Halt!
    That's my spot!
    Designated for me!
    Which I can never miss!

  3. I'm new at this but I'd thought I'd give it a shot! :D

    Mine:
    White lines, black asphalt
    Dictating where I shall park.
    Straight lines, small spaces
Causing most to miss their mark!

  4. Greg - we're usually pretty aware of what's going on up there, but this one caught us by surprise :)

A tale of a man stuck endlessly driving appeals to me, and I have no idea why. It just does.

Zhongming - thanks, I liked yours as well :)

Anon - welcome and thanks for taking the time to share your poem! It's a fine first effort (I particularly like the last two lines) and I hope to see more of your writing here.

Maybe even with a name attached to it? :)
