The exercise:

A four line poem about: the gift shop.

Note: I'm away on my honeymoon so this is a scheduled post.

Mine:

"Everything in here
is so fantastic!"
"Are you bloody drunk?
It's all cheap plastic."

  1. The gift shop

There is nothing fanciful in here.
The present has to be cute and colorful.
Did the gift shop owner isolate kiddy gifts?
I bet kiddy stuff's is not in his list.

  2. @zhongming: well said; I've no idea who gift shops are aimed at, but I usually have a hard time finding anything I'd consider buying in there! Canadian gift shops, at the airports at least, did seem to carry a few kids items though.

@marc: Hah, the dichotomy of sentiment is perfect! I'm with the second speaker all the way!
Oh, and congratulations -- you've made it the whole first week without logging in (noticeably) to check up on us, and I thought that would be the tough week, as you'd have relatively easy internet access!

    The gift shop
He was German and the owner,
And his shop was always noisome.
Full of deadly trinkets, because, I learned
    In German gift means poison!

  3. Nice work all - playing catch up here. Everyone hit on the idea that gift shops are crap, except Greg, who truly captured the truth: Gift shops are evil.

    Here's mine:

    Little Girl Demanding
    Must Have

  4. Zhongming - ah, the gift shop that doesn`t have what you`re looking for. Always very frustrating!

Greg - well, I did check in to make sure the posts were showing up as scheduled, but other than that I was being good!

That sounds like a gift shop I`d browse very, very carefully.

David - haha, nicely done. Again an excellent use of gradually shortening lines - I think you might be on to something here.
