The exercise:

A four line poem about: our planet.

We celebrated Earth Hour tonight by turning off all the power and lighting a bunch of candles. It was very peaceful and I think we'll have to do that more than once a year.

Earlier in the day, we attended a waterwise gardening workshop and got all sorts of good ideas for our yard. And Kat won a young little pine tree as one of the door prizes! Now we just have to figure out where we want to plant it.

Mine:

Billions of souls share this home:
Mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers.
Yet after all of these years,
We still don't understand each other.

  1. The candlelight does sound very nice, although there would be a certain irony there if you'd had to call the fire brigade out because of them... :)
Congratulations to Kat and her prize-winning skills!
Your poem's very reflective today, I'm guessing that's brought on by Earth Hour :)

    Our planet
Our planet, is, without our knowledge,
Up for sale to the highest bidder,
    The sign says 'Vacant possession,'
    The seller's a galactic kidder.

  2. Greg - yeah, I was extra careful not to burn the house down this time.

I can totally see that happening. I think we're just clueless enough to have our planet sold right from underneath us.
