The exercise:
Two haiku about: success.
Because, miracle of miracles, the Canucks won tonight. They had to be all dramatic and do it in overtime, but they did it.
Now on to round two against Nashville.
Mine:
After so much pain,
so many doubts and stumbles,
at long last: success.
* * *
Stand atop the peak,
look down at what you've conquered,
and savor the view.
Congratulations on the Canucks win! I'm sure all the cardiac doctors out there appreciated them taking it to the wire!
ReplyDeleteI like your second haiku best today, but they're both pretty damn good.
Success
My success means naught
As all the long nights just cost
Me my only love.
-----
Glittering medals,
A big house, five cars is what
Success means to you
On playing in the dark with a flashlight and a cat:
ReplyDeleteA dart of light here,
A leap and pounce there -- success
Playing with kitty!
-------------
The flowers nod so
Over the vase -- another
Successful bouquet.
Your second one strongly reminds me of the feeling I had when I took this picture. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's been a while since I wrote a haiku, let's see...
Nerves keep me quiet
Why can't I just ask for it?
Oh. That was easy.
....
The trees in flower,
Exhaust belching from the trucks,
Lungs heave in the air.
(stupid allergies, but I rode to work anyway)
Greg - yeah, I was seeing a lot of comments on Facebook after the game about people aging prematurely :)
ReplyDeleteThat first one is rather gloomy, but it is nicely done. I liked the second one too.
Morganna - I like the image your first one painted in my mind, and the second one is very lovely.
Nicole - always a pleasure to see you poking 'round these parts :)
Great picture. I can only imagine how satisfying reaching the top must have been.
Love your first one :D
