The exercise:

Four lines of prose about: the backup.

Things seem to be back to normal now, after Blogger was unavailable for over 20 hours starting yesterday around noon. Wednesday's post briefly disappeared but is back now, sadly sans comments - though they're saying those should be back sometime this weekend. I also back dated Thursday's post to when it would have gone up had things been working.

In my almost three years of use, that was the first time Blogger was down for that kind of time - hard to complain about that kind of reliability. In fact, if that doesn't happen again for another three years I'd be rather pleased.

Mine:

"You've got a backup plan if this doesn't work, right?" Doug asked over the roof of the taxi cab we had just climbed out of.

"Why wouldn't this work?" I countered, pulling the megaphone out of my backpack.

"Ha ha... oh no, you're serious," he said, the colour draining from his face. But it was too late - I had already aimed the device at the White House and had begun professing my love to the president.

So far, Blogger's accepting my comments without throwing half of them away, so it looks like it's even better than before now!

Wow, with that as Plan A, who needs a backup plan?

The backup
"What the...?" Sylvestra was actually lost for words as the Green Lightbulb wheeled his backup out. "Is that thing supposed to be Dr. Septopus?"
"It's better than Dr. Septopus, it doesn't know how to criticise!"

Marc- I'd like to see that news report, especially if there is footage to accompany it.

Greg- So short and concise. There isn't really much else I can thing to say.

Marissa sat at the vanity waiting patiently for the Father to come. She wished to lift the heavy vail from her face to release the moist minty breath caught beneath it. The penalty for being seen by anyone other than the contractor were too high so she waited and fidgeted and quietly abided her time until the Father would arrive. On her wedding day, whenever it would be, she knew there would be no back-up bride. If one was even considered, there would be no wedding.

Greg - glad to see they're getting along just fine without the good doctor around :)

Heather - I suspect the footage would be a YouTube hit :D

That doesn't sound like a very pleasant situation for Marissa. I hope she finds her way out of it.

The Backup

"So, do you have everything you need?"

"Yes - syringe, sedative, blindfold, taser, cuffs, pistol, ice pick, switchblade."

"And the opera tickets?"

"Ah, that's my backup."

Aholiab - that sounds like one very prepared individual :)
