The exercise:

Two haiku about: the cowboy.

For those of you not familiar with the form, haiku are three line poems, with the first and third lines being 5 syllables and the second line being 7 syllables. You'll find two examples below, handily enough.

Still badly in need of sleep. I'll get to responding to your comments eventually, I promise.

Mine:

The scar on his right
cheek is hidden by dried dirt
and autumn's twilight.

*     *     *

Matching hat and boots,
belt buckle big as Texas,
never seen a horse.

  1. I like your second haiku best today I think, the last line just delivers a great punch!

    The cowboy
    Job done in three days?
    It's structurally unsound.
    Cowboys ride again.

    -------

    He's a long way out,
    His horse is looking pretty.
    (Cowboys get lonely)

    gun on side and,
    a wierd horse named cat

    As he faces his enemy,
hand on his ready loaded gun,
    Their fighting goes on endlessly

  4. The Cowboy

Try to guess whos point of veiw is in this poem.

Tired, sad and my back hurts
However, he still makes me take him everywhere

He thinks he is the hero but think again
There is no 'thank you' or treats
Not in my life, but I guess he can't afford it

  5. The Cowboy

Tired, sad, my back hurts, I need new shoes and my feet are sore, I need a hair cut, I need a new jacket
However, he still makes me take him everywhere

  8. Somewhere in the dust,
    There is a stranger.
    Don't go in there,
    There might be danger.

My little cowboy toy is so much fun
it even came with a real gun.
This is not a toy for me,
My daddy is a real cowboy see.
I took this out of his cowboy shed,
    soon his gonna go,
    BANG,BANG I'm dead.

These are just poems I think they are sort of weird.

  9. He wears a hat and boots, he has a big brown horse. With a peice of grass in his mouth and a scar on his right cheek, he's a cowboy.
