The exercise:

Happy November all, and good luck to those of you participating in NaNoWriMo this year. After two successful attempts in a row I'm choosing to skip this one in order to avoid having yet another story in first draft. Because, you know, maybe I should give second draft a try.

Anyway. Two Haiku Tuesday has a demand for you. And that demand is: don't give up.

Mine:

The odds may look bleak,
Hope might wither and blacken;
Keep on anyway.

Your job is not done,
My friend, for as long as the
Buffet's still open

Perhaps instead of NaNoWriMo, you could take part in NaFaDoYBIMSCOM: National Finish a Draft of Your Book (I Mean Seriously, Come On) Month.

Don't you give Upton
That kind of a look, you know.
He'll start to assume.

Though a troll's go-to,
Whene'er you need somebody,
He won't give you up.

I'm a bit out of practice... but there's my offering anyway.

@g2: I'm not at all sure that it shows that you're out of practice! And it's nice to see you back here anyway :)
I like your first haiku better today, I think.

@Marc: So it's NaNoRewriteMo for you then? Until something interesting happens at the polls on Election Day and you decide to write a novel about it in half the usual time, just because you're that inspired? ;-)
I like your first haiku better today too :)

Mine are poor; I've been up since 4am and over to Ireland and back with a four hour meeting in there. It doesn't excuse my poor showing, but it might at least explain it.

Don't give up
The door says to push;
You pull as hard as you can.
Don't ever give up!

-------

They ask directions,
So you lie, giving left, right,
Down. You don't give up.

g2 - yeah, I'm not sure I'll have time to do even that much, but I'll do what I can :)

Ha, that second one cracked me up - the link was a nice touch.

Greg - yeah, knowing me some grand idea will come along and I'll end up giving it a shot. I will do my best to resist though.

I would think that's a perfectly valid excuse, but I'd also say that second one needs no excusing - it definitely made me smile :)
