The exercise:

Write a four line poem about something or someone that is: erratic.

Because that's the only word I can think of to describe the weather today. Raining, sunshine, cloudy, repeat. Every now and then mix in a little rain with sunshine to keep things interesting.

Thankfully it's not the word to describe our sales this morning. All the berries went to good homes, there was about ten pounds of cherries leftover, and all the shelling and snow peas sold. It was a very good, very busy market for us.

Mine:

She walks in the room,
And my heartbeat scatters;
Suddenly deep breaths
Are real hard to gather.

  1. That weather's not erratic, it's British! Give it back, right now! :-P
What will you do with the cherries? I don't recall soft-fruit keeping all that well, but I can imagine that cherry jam, or every bottled cherries (in Kirsch!) would make good sellers in a couple of months time.
Anyone in mind when you wrote that little poem? ;-)

    Erratic
    Lucy got a bit confused
    Between erotic and erratic
And so her boyfriend found himself
Carrying mice up to the attic!

  3. Greg - you can have it!

They'll keep until tomorrow, when our local customers come calling. And if they've gone off at all we'll just pick some fresh ones for them instead.

I have no idea what to say about that poem of yours, so I shall shake my head and move on :P

    Writebite - thank you :)

Sounds like you're writing about Vancouver to me :P

  4. Erratic

    Debby could not be plotted,
    She maintained no charted course.
On the gulf beaches she trotted
    Sending waves of decimating force.

  5. Morrigan - glad to see you've managed to come out the other side in one piece. I hope no serious damage was done in your area?
