The exercise:

Write two haiku about: medicine.

We had a pretty smooth local order day here, with an extra set of hands making everything a little bit easier.

Two of our guests went back home this morning, and we'll be saying farewell to our final guest tomorrow. Then it's back to me, Kat, and the approaching arrival of baby.

Mine:

Just take two of these.
If you survive until dawn,
please call someone else.

On the kitchen floor
it still sits, a reminder;
empty pill bottle.

medicine

pills and potions fill
the bathroom cabinet, but
laughter is the best

make me a tisane -
herbs and honey fill the cup
- these are medicine too
(using the English pronunciation of medicine as med'cine)

@Writebite: I think I like your first haiku better for the punchline.

@Marc: it almost sounds like you're holding your visitors hostage until they've done enough work around the farm. Remind me not to visit you....
Both of your haiku seem a bit darker than usual! I think I like the first one better though, for the middle line :)

Medicine
Pharmacoepia:
A list of things that just hide
Your illness from you.

Medicine

Yellow pills are best
Leg pains, tingles subsiding
Now she sleeps calmly

High cholesterol
High blood pressure, overweight
I need medicine

Writebite - quite like your first one this week :)

Greg - whatever, they're free to leave whenever they please.

As long as they've finished their work.

I think I prefer your first one this week as well, though it's a close call.

Aholiab - going with your second one as my favorite. I can just picture someone thinking that, convinced it's the truth, when maybe a little exercise and meal restraint would do the trick...
