The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: distraction.

Managed to get some good yard work done today. The two garden boxes in our backyard that we use for our own cooking were topped up with organic mulch and the lilac bushes out front were mostly cleaned up as well.

Tomorrow my focus returns to the big garden and those wonderful berries of ours.

Mine:

"We need to distract these damned guards if we want to have any chance of getting inside."

"I just thought of a great idea."

"If it involves taking off your pants again, keep thinking."

"... actually, I was going to suggest that we could just give them access to the internet."

Sounds like a busy day! The berries sound exciting though :)
Heh, the internet is probably the most distracting thing ever, so good thinking! Though someone with no pants is a pretty good second choice hehe.

Distraction
Lissajous kicked the machine and to his surprise, and then horror, it rocked onto an edge, and then started falling over. He stepped back just as it crashed to the floor.

Inside the quantum prison Sberichev looked up as a crash rolled through like thunder and the air seemed to thicken slightly and glow from within.
"Ah," he said. "I think we have a distraction!"

Thanks Marc and Greg for your kind comments! :)

His past few days flew by without any variety. Doctors hustled around him every morning removing a couple of tubes and adding some more. "Don't worry, we wont let you die", they said. Death, he had always felt was a big and unnecessary distraction. Today, amidst all the din, as he closed his eyes and breathed one last time, he realized in a fleeting moment that it wasn't death. It was life, that had been the distraction.

Distraction

“Daddy do you want to have a tea party with me and my dolls?”

“Not now, honey, since I’m working on my taxes and they’re due tomorrow.”

“Is that more fun than a tea party, Daddy?”

“Ok, we can have a tea party, but only for an hour or two.”

Greg - the internet certainly does the trick for me...

Jeez, seriously loving this continuing tale you've got going. Glad you're able to find excuses in the prompts to keep it moving along!

David - :)

Gargi - no problem! Glad you're finding the blog useful :)

Beautifully done. Very powerful.

Aholiab - hah! Once Max is old enough to talk, I better keep him out of the house while I'm doing taxes :P
