The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: the sample.

Took a family trip up to Kelowna this morning to visit their indoor winter farmers market and do a little bit of shopping. We managed to find Max a new pair of sunglasses to replace the ones that became too small late last year, as well as a sunhat for the coming summer.

Food-wise at the market, we got a lot of local meat (chicken and pork), eggs, a bag of parsnips, and a bunch of pears (Max's current favorite fruit).

We almost made it back home without any issues, but then Max decided he'd had enough time in the car about five minutes before we reached Kaleden. He was definitely tired as well, as he fell asleep shortly after we got him in the house.

We also went for lunch while we were in Kelowna and I made the mistake of eating all of my meal, rather than getting the second half of it bagged up to bring home. I don't know why I do that sometimes. Felt so gross and overstuffed afterward.

I'd like to think I've learned my lesson but... probably not.

Mine:

They said that they needed
A sample of my DNA;
I gave them my three kids
And told them to go away

I guess the five minutes can go either way: either it's a good thing it was only five minutes, or it's a shame that he couldn't have waited just five minutes longer. Of course, if it took you longer than five minutes to eat the second half of your meal though, then it's entirely your fault :-P
I do remember being astonished at the portion size when I was in Québec, but I thought I remembered Vancouver as being rather more reasonable ("more European" I suppose I mean in my uncultured way). I think the Atlantic Provinces were ok for portion size as well, and I think I ate in every restaurant in Moncton by the time I was finished over there. So I'm a little surprised that you normally only eat half the meal :)
Heh, I love the punchline in your poem today. Perfect way to meet the request!

The sample
The doctor handed me a beer keg
And said I had to fill it up with pee
I said it might take hours
If it was only me.

Greg - it's pretty rare that I get a meal that large, so usually finishing the meal in one sitting isn't an issue. It's just that sometimes when I do get too much food... I eat it all anyway. And regret it. Pretty much before I even finish eating it (but I've committed myself to finishing by that point, damn it all!).

Hahaha. I can just imagine a doctor's reaction to having a sample returned as a group effort! Though I mean, really, a beer keg?!?
