The exercise:
Write a four line poem about: Easter.
We took Max into town this morning to check out Osoyoos' Easter festivities. The sun was out, and so were the crowds. He wasn't crazy about that, but we did eventually check out the fire trucks on display at the fire hall, and had a visit at the petting farm area (bunnies, goats, and geese).
He's pretty excited that the Easter Bunny is coming tomorrow morning. I guess we've reached that age.
Mine:
Pretty painted eggs,
Hidden all around;
Placed so skillfully,
They'll never be found...
You should have told Max that one of the rabbits in the petting area was the Easter Bunny, and that he had to guess right in order for him to deliver eggs to your house tomorrow :) I'm sure he'd had come up with an interesting reason for the rabbit he picked, and all you have to do then is nod and agree!
ReplyDeleteWhile I like the optimistic tone and the rhyme of your poem, ultimately that last line leads me to believe there'll be disappointment....
Easter
This day we worship Eostre,
With toasted bread, a glass of water and a soft-boiled egg.
Smoked salt concludes the celebrant,
And we humbly ask her how she says her name.
Greg - hah, maybe we'll try that next year :)
ReplyDeleteNice twist on the take. I think I would be among those asking that question...
