The exercise:
Write a four line poem about: ignorance.
Started this morning with 136 pints and 108 quarts (so about another 162 pints, ish) of strawberries. They were all gone by 11:00 am.
As a reminder, the market opens at 8:30 am.
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
I was feeling pretty confident that we were going to sell out before the market closed at 1:00 pm. I had zero expectations of doing so that quickly.
That was a pretty quiet and relaxed last two hours though, with only my greeting cards and photography prints left on the one table (we took down the first table around 10, then the second table at 11). Gave me the chance to visit with a few vendors I hadn't seen since last fall, and to do a bit of shopping as well.
I'm curious to see how things go next weekend, when we'll be adding cherries to the mix.
Mine:
How blissfully ignorant,
To ask such a thing!
No ma'am, these strawberries were
Not picked last spring...*
*Honestly, what kind of produce storage system do people think we have? I know the strawberries are ready early this year, but come on...

Two and a half hours to sell 300 pints of strawberries? That's good going, and it sounds like it made the market seem much easier in certain ways, since you were able to wander around and see people and chat. I can see how that would feel like a better market, especially since everything was sold. Did you sell many cards and prints as well? Maybe you should bundle them with the strawberries so people have to buy them to get a pint of strawberries :)
As for your poem... wow. Just wow. Some people really have no idea, do they? You should have told the questioner that they were freshly laid that morning and left her believing that there's a strawberry-laying hen out there :)
Ignorance
She's sitting alone in her favourite trance,
Under a tree, in blissful ignorance.
Sadly it's a palm tree and some things are too real –
When the coconut falls it's something she'll feel.
Greg - I think I sold a couple cards, no prints though. Hah, a card and berry bundle is a good idea!
Oh, and that we have strawberry hens for sale as well. But that they only lay strawberries under just the right conditions. I shall have to remember that for next time :P
Ouch. That doesn't seem like an ideal place to bliss out...
