The exercise:

Write a four line poem about: snowbirds.

Had six loaves left at end of day today, and a lot of bits and pieces left of other stuff. Not bad, just another expected inconsistent day for this time of year.

Don't get me wrong, by the way. I don't miss the summer madness. I'm just very fond of selling everything that was baked each day.

Looking forward to attending my youngest niece's first birthday party tomorrow afternoon. Emersyn's actual birthday was on Thursday but tomorrow is the first day everyone is available to get together to celebrate it. Should be a good time.

Mine:

Snowbirds.
A gentle reminder that,
To some,
Our winter is tropical

  1. I can't decide if you're perfectly suited for retail, or terribly suited for retail, with your desire to sell everything by the end of the day. Possibly both :)
Your snowbirds sound interesting, and if a Canadian winter is tropical then I want to join them! Sitting outside in -30 reminiscing about how it was better when it was colder, remembering the ice ages past... :)

    Snowbirds
    Snowbirds;
    No words
    describe their trouble
    as they melt into puddles.

  2. Greg - yes, possibly both.

Heh, most of the snowbirds we get around here come from northern Alberta, with a fair number from the prairies. Our winter is indeed very mild in comparison to theirs... and Osoyoos tends to be the best Canadian alternative to crossing the border in order to find warmth this time of year.

Ooh, I really like the rhythm of your first two lines. I could happily reread those for quite some time! Your final two are great as well, I'm just stuck on the first two :D

  3. Gone with the cold
    Back with the sun
    I wish I had a warm escape
But I can do without the 'gators.
