Considering what prompted this I think you did have to turn up and put something in :) It's a good picture of Max, he's looking more and more like you I think. It also looks rather warmer there than you've been suggesting the weather is, so I'm guessing it was from a few months ago? Happy Birthday Max! I think I like your first haiku better today; while the sentiment in the second is amusing, the first with the image of time somehow pinned down by frozen moments really catches my imagination. Great work!
Five Fingers on one hand, Unless you're Digits Malone. Then there's twenty-four....
Under summer skies Rob died. Six became five and Even Digits cried.
Greg - this was taken the day after my birthday, so about a week and a half ago. It was sunny that day, but whenever the wind caught us it was pretty cold. We were pretty sheltered by the corn stalks here :)
Really like the rhythm of your second, so I believe it's my favorite. Nice acrostic, by the way :D

Can't exactly not do this one, now can I?
Mine:
My, how five years pass
like seconds... populated
with frozen moments

hates them equally
