The exercise:
Write a country acrostic. Any country you like.
I will not make any comments about how impressed I would be by anyone who managed The Democratic Republic of the Congo, because that would be mean and I wouldn't want anyone to feel obligated to do it just because I mentioned it here.
So. Moving on.
Delivered apricots to the bakery with the boys this morning before taking them to the park. At one point Miles (who is walking now, by the way - pretty sure I haven't mentioned that yet!) just got up and wandered off on his own, about halfway across the park. Me and Max just watched him go since there's a fence that runs all the way around it.
We had to go get him eventually though.
Because he was not coming back on his own.
Mine:
Ruining the trust of the
United States in their
Supposedly strong democracy.
Secrets spilled by an
Idiot's idiot son
And yet... still stands his presidency.

The exercise:
Write an acrostic poem about whatever you like. Why? Because apparently it has been quite some time since I last made use of that prompt.
This way late update brought to you by the thunder and lightning storm that (we think) took out our internet connection at home and the Osoyoos library WiFi connection.
Tech guy is coming by Wednesday afternoon, so hopefully things will get sorted out then. For now, Monday's update is all I have time for.
Mine:
Nothing seems to be getting through;
Over's not working, under's a bust too!
So what I am supposed to do?
I need to update my blog you crappy,
Gormless pile of machinery!
No more excuses, I've enough ado!
Angry Marc has arrived; he's not
Leaving until this mess has been made new.

The exercise:
Looking back through the archives, I see that I've done one acrostic prompt per year so far. So let's get it out of the way for 2011, shall we? And since Protagonize's current poetry tournament (which I'm not participating in) challenge is to write one based on a fear you have, we're going to do that.
So Kat's in bed and just as I walked past our bedroom door a minute ago I was overcome by the urge to sneeze. I did my best to hold it in until I could get further away, but to no avail. What came out was a really loud, odd combination of a sneeze and a cough. I'm pretty sure she didn't hear it, because if she had she would have come check on me, convinced I was dying.
Anyway. Onwards we go.
Mine:
Slithering through my home,
Not a care for my screams,
A disgusting python -
Kiss goodbye to my dreams.
End this train of thought?
Sadly, I cannot.

The exercise:
I felt like doing an acrostic today, so go nuts with that.
In other news, A Fighting Chance edged across the 50,000 word mark today, so that was kind of exciting.
AFC Word Count: 14,463
AFC Word Target: 14,000
Mine:
Courting your sugary spice,
Love of my heart,
I step into the spotlight,
Charmingly playing my part;
High may be your pedestal but I'd climb
Everest for you, my sweet tart.

The exercise:
Let us have a go at writing some acrostics, shall we?
Mine:
My head
Is throbbing again.
Guess this pace I
Really can't sustain.
Alright, alright,
I'll go take a nap -
No more reading
Each and every scrap.

The exercise:
I'm under the impression that the CPU on my home desktop computer died last night, so that's why this is late.
I'll be updating from work for the next few days, hopefully it will be taken care of by the weekend.
Anyway, the exercise is: write an acrostic. I wrote mine last night - I bet you would never have guessed.
Mine:
There it goes again.
Every time it
Crashes I wonder
How much it will cost,
Never expecting
Or hoping for a
Lightning fast repair;
Only wishing this
Garbage would happen
Yearly, not monthly.
