The exercise:
Write about: the knife.
Got a couple things coming up this week. Haven't written either of them yet so I'm not going to commit to them appearing on any particular days.
In fact, I had hoped to do one today.
Clearly, I was not organized enough for that.
So, stay tuned.

The exercise:
Apparently it is June now. Hmm.
Write something that has to do with: knives.
Spent the morning with Max, mostly running errands in town. Had to hand in my payroll paperwork at Town Hall, drop off a criminal record check at the police station (because when I'm called into work at the Community Centre I'll be working around/with kids), returned a book to the library, booked Max a haircut for later this week, and bought some groceries. There was a snack and coffee time in there somewhere as well.
After dinner I got started on the next strawberry harvest. Partially because it's going to take a long time to get through them all, but mostly because the forecast seems to be suggesting that tomorrow morning will consist of rain, rain, and more rain.
Also: rain.
So I wanted to get as much done in the not rain as possible.
Wish us luck tomorrow. And warmth.
Mine:
The knives have been sharpened,
They're ready for use.
She's staring out the window,
Tired of the abuse.
She has suffered enough,
There will be no more;
She is feeling so focused
She doesn't hear the door.
He comes up behind her,
His expression hard,
And joins her silent vigil
On the backyard.
They watch their veggie garden
Until it appears,
Then she hurries outside,
Grabs the rabbit by the ears.
Enough carrots have gone missing,
She says with a sigh.
Now play time is over -
The rabbit must die.

The exercise:
Tell me a story about: the knife.
Spent the morning harvesting for our local orders and the evening fiddling with tomato plants. In between I hid inside, avoiding the burning gaze of Mr. Sun.
Mine:
They called him The Knife, though never when he was around to hear it. They didn't want to have his namesake slipped between their ribs, after all.
His role in the neighbourhood was to keep the peace, though rarely through peaceful methods. His name was enough to cast a chilling shadow on any argument before it could become too heated, and mothers didn't even need that much to keep their children under control.
They simply had to open their cutlery drawer and begin cleaning a knife - any would do.
But The Knife is getting on in years now, and there is concern that once he crosses over there will be no one to fill his black shoes. There's talk of lawlessness taking hold before the soil over his coffin can settle.
