The exercise:
Write four lines of prose about: the costume ball.
I'm doing a short shift at the bakery tomorrow morning to help out with the early rush. Hoping to be home before noon so that I can actually have lunch at a reasonable time.
Should still get to sleep early though.
Mine:
"Why aren't you dressed up?"
"What are you talking about? My costume's in my pants."
"Did you put a costume on your... why do you have to take everything so literally?!"

Did you get home before noon in the end? I'm sure you mentioned a time in your next post but I don't remember if it related to this or not :)
Ah, and where else would the costume be? If it weren't that the other speaker doesn't sound terrified or murderous I'd say it was Henri talking....
The costume ball
The butler leaned in, his breath smelling of anchovies and peppermint. Lady Merriweather used all of her breeding in order not to flinch.
"Where's Lord Merriweather?" asked the butler with the concern of someone who's been instructed to find out.
"He's come as the Invisible man," said Lady Merriweather.
Greg - I think I left work around 11 that morning, so yes I did!
Hah, no, definitely not Henri in this scene. Though his response to this turn of events would definitely be worth exploring...
Hmm. So, did he actually come as the invisible man... or is he simply a no show? And would that be a no show of his own choosing, or did something sinister happen to prevent his attendance?
And am I reading far too much into this?
... likely. :P
