Given what you saw at work last night, I'm glad you've chosen this as the prompt and not used that instead. Although I suppose you might be saving it for four-line poem day, just to up the ante a little more... :-D
Slightly surprisingly (to me at least) I only have to go back to Monday< for a re-usable character this time. Though since he was only introduced this year I wonder if I'm technically cheating?
The dog park "Overlooking the fact that this Sixticton's eighteenth new dog park in the last three months," said Petronella DeKumquat, reporter for the Times of Sixticton, "can you explain why there are no toilets here?" The Mayor, a German Shepherd called Sammy, grinned wolfishly and barked at a passing hedgehog, which rolled up into a ball. "The Mayor says," said Sammy's representative (and official leash-holder), "that this is a dog park and all the toilets are dog-appropriate, and that no dog has a problem with a human using them as well." He turned pale and edged away as he finished the translation, "just cock your leg against a tree and... pee."
Greg - hah, well I still might use it yet... somehow or another :)
Eh, technicalities aside, you know I'm happy to see a return of the dog mayor. I love that ending. The phrase 'dog-appropriate' is one I think we could all stand to hear a little more often in our lives :D
I'm not quite sure what a prose is, but here goes...
At the dog park there is all sorts of different breeds. Some small, some big. Some hyper, some calm. Some friendly, some mean. But one thing is the same with them all- they sniff every little thing! And they pee, A LOT! There is almost always leftover tennis balls. Which is great because I always forget to bring mine. When there are many dogs, we don't stay too long, we like it less crowded.
KC - prose is just regular old writing (as opposed to poetry). So the idea on Fridays is to keep it short (heading into the weekend and all that) and try to keep prompt responses to just four sentences. Never an issue if someone feels inspired to go beyond the four lines, but that's the goal :)
Thank you for this little snippet of your life that you've shared with us. I'm also a big fan of the smaller the crowd the better :)
