The exercise:

Write four lines of prose about: flexibility.

Worked out a flexible work schedule this morning with my boss. Starting next week I'll be coming in half an hour late and taking half an hour off my lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays so that I can drop the boys off at school twice a week. Wanting both to take some of the burden off of Kat and to have a little extra time with Max and Miles in the morning.

Feeling very grateful for having a job that not only allows but encourages that sort of flexibility in my schedule.

That is a nicely flexible schedule! I guess, since you're losing some of your lunch break to compensate, that there's reasons for you all to leave around the same time every day? Or is it easier for you to halve your lunch break and leave at the normal time?
I will say, in most jobs I've worked I've never needed an hour for lunch unless it's a business lunch at a restaurant somewhere (and then the time is mostly needed for the service), so I think it's a good plan you have regardless.

[Oh, and on the interlude story with Death, remind me after Fabian finishes and I'll go back to that and explain more :)]

Flexibility
The Headmaster of WrongStart, Sixticton's premier teaching facility (or 'school' as they used to call it in the old days), had called on all the staff to be flexible.
"We need to return to the office," he said, ignoring the coughed 'school' from the audience, "and bring our clients" *cough-children-cough* "back in as well, without putting ourselves at unnecessary risk."
Emma's hand shot into the air and she said, without waiting to be called on, "The main Sixticton road was washed out three weeks ago and the smaller roads over the volcano are so hot they're steaming and melting tyres."
"We need to be flexible," said the Headmaster making appeasing gestures with his hands, "and perhaps that means a little walking and swimming first thing in the morning to freshen you up for your classes?"

Greg - I'd just rather still be home at the same time. I've been enjoying getting home before 5, as opposed to closer to 5:30 when I was working in Osoyoos. I'm sure some days I'll want to stay a bit later but right now I'm not really missing that half hour of lunch twice a week.

And I will, thank you very much. At least, I will try not to forget. I suppose it depends how much more time we'll be spending with Fabian.

Hah, nicely done. I like how you managed to mix in several elements into such a small segment.
